SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Danny O’Regan (@DannyORegan15) from the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (@TheAHL).

The 22-year-old O’Regan is tied for the Barracuda team lead in points (11), and is T-2nd on the team with five goals in 11 games during his first professional campaign. The center ranks T-3rd on the team with 27 shots on goal, T-5th in plus/minus (plus-3) and ranks T-7th amongst all AHL rookies in points and T-5th in goals amongst first year AHL skaters.

O’Regan wrapped up a four-year stint at Boston University last season, leading the Terriers in goals, assists and points, while being named a Hockey East First Team All-Star. He became the 18th player in BU history to eclipse the 150-point mark in a career, finished 3rd in the league in scoring during Hockey East play, and was a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.

The forward helped the Terriers capture the Hockey East Championship in 2014-15 and led the team in assists (3) while ranking T-2nd in points (4) in the NCAA Tournament. During his freshman campaign, O’Regan was named to the College Hockey News and Hockey East All-Rookie Teams and became the first BU rookie since the 1989-90 season to lead the team in points (38).

O’Regan represented the United States in the 2013-14 World Jr. Championships, winning a silver medal, as well as the 2013 Hockey National Jr. Evaluation Camp. In 2011-12 he represented the US in the 2012 World Jr. Championship, contributing one goal and three assists in six games en route to a gold medal, as well as five points (two goals, three assists) in the Hlinka Memorial Tournament.

The five-foot-nine, 180-pound center was drafted by San Jose in the 2012 NHL Draft (fifth round, 138th overall). This marks his first NHL recall.

In a related move, forward Tomas Hertl (@TomasHertl48) was placed on injured reserve.
