In celebration of the DVD release of HANDS OF STONE on November 22 we honor the man who was called “Manos de Piedra” Roberto Duran.
Roberto Duran can arguably be considered the best lightweight boxer of the 20th century, and one of the greatest boxers of all time. With a career that spanned over three decades and world titles in four different weight classes, Duran was coined “Manos de Piedra” or “Hands of Stone” for his devastating punching power. By the time the Hall of Famer retired, he had accumulated an astonishing record of 103 victories of which 70 were knockouts for a 68% knockout ratio.
Hands of Stone premiered at the Cannes Film Festival May 16, 2016 and follows the life of Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramirez), the Panamanian fighter who made his professional debut in 1968 as a 16 year-old and retired in 2002 at the age of 50. In June 1980, he defeated Sugar Ray Leonard (Usher Raymond) to capture the WBC Welterweight title, but shocked the boxing world by returning to his corner in their November rematch, famously saying the words “no mas” (no more.) The film is directed and written by Jonathan Jakubowicz.

En celebración del lanzamiento en DVD de HANDS OF STONE, el 22 de noviembre honraremos al hombre que fue llamado “Manos de Piedra” Roberto Duran.
Roberto Duran puede ser considerado el mejor boxeador ligero del siglo 20, y uno de los mejores boxeadores de todos los tiempos. Con una carrera que duró más de tres décadas y títulos mundiales en cuatro diferentes clases de peso, Duran fue acuñado “Manos de Piedra” o “Hands of Stone” por su devastador poder. HANDS OF STONE narra la vida de Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramírez), el boxeador panameño que hizo su debut profesional en 1968 a los dieciséis años y que se retiró en 2002 a los cincuenta años de edad.
