Sunnyvale, Calif. – Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) (www.svcommunityservices.org) announced on November 15 that a $100,000 grant from Google was awarded to them in order to support Wrap-Around Housing Case Management for families who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. The grant will fully fund one year of staffing for a housing case manager.

“It’s wonderful to see Google and other Sunnyvale businesses support our community, said Sunnyvale Mayor Glenn Hendricks. “Sunnyvale Community Services is an essential safety net organization, and donations like this enable them to extend their reach and expand their services to help the most vulnerable in our local community.”

“The housing crisis is not new, but the intensity and relentlessness of need continues to mount for low-income residents in Sunnyvale,” added SCS Executive Director Marie Bernard. “As we advocate for long-term housing solutions, SCS will continue to be the first door for people in our local community to come to for financial aid, food, referrals, and case management. Google’s generous donation will enable us to assist 48 families in urgent need.”

“Google understands the importance of investing in housing solutions in our communities,” stated Javier Gonzalez, Public Policy Lead for Google in the South Bay. “Sunnyvale Community Services provides vital services to our neighbors in Sunnyvale and we’re proud to invest in their mission of supporting families faced with housing challenges.”
