At the February 4 meeting, the VTA Board of Directors approved a $1.65 million contract with Granite Rock Company for the construction of the Downtown San Jose and City Hall Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Stations – part of the overall Alum Rock-Santa Clara Bus Rapid Transit Project.
The work includes bus stop improvements to support a BRT line at four locations in the downtown San Jose area along Santa Clara Street. Improvements also include sidewalk replacement, shelter installation, pedestrian lighting, and communication systems installation.
VTA is committed to the continued support of Alum Rock businesses and residents during the next construction phase. A comprehensive marketing and community outreach effort is underway to keep the community informed of construction activities and promote impacted businesses by encouraging people to shop local.
Over the holiday shopping season, VTA launched events and campaigns to help drive business to the Alum Rock area – watch the video here and read more about this recent contract announcement on Headways, VTA’s blog.
