The Kenny Foreman Reaching Out Center is boosting their efforts to serve struggling South Bay families, especially in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic.  Food distributions are hosted Wednesdays and Thursdays at the San Jose location, Saturdays in Gilroy, and once-a-month in Milpitas and Morgan Hill.

Founded in 1979 out of a church closet, Reaching Out is now the second largest food pantry in Northern California.  It provides more than 15 million dollars’ worth of groceries to struggling families annually and is the largest outreach ministry at Cathedral of Faith located in San Jose.  The California Department of Agriculture has recognized Reaching Out as one of the most efficient food programs in the state.

Reaching Out has taken extra measures to do our best to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, and the handling of groceries.  Some of those measures include wearing gloves, drive-by food distributions, practicing social distancing, and more.

San Jose: Cathedral of Faith, 2315 Canoas Garden Ave., San Jose, CA 95125

Food distributions are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12 Noon.

Gilroy: Cathedral of Faith Gilroy, 7250 Forest St, Gilroy, CA 95020

In January 2019, Cathedral of Faith’s Gilroy campus moved into a new location on Forest St.  Beginning March 28, 2020, food distributions will be held every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon.

Milpitas: Jose Higuera Adobe Building parking lot, On Wessex Place, Off North Park Victoria

Cathedral of Faith’s Milpitas church campus hosts a food distribution every 4th Monday of the month from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  The next food distribution will be held on April 27, 2020.

Morgan Hill: Morgan Hill Community Center parking lot, 17000 Monterey Road, Morgan Hill, CA 95037

Cathedral of Faith’s Morgan Hill church campus hosts a food distribution every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  The next food distribution will be held on April 14, 2020.

Last week, in our San Jose location alone, Reaching Out served 1,125 families and senior complexes with groceries.  In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, we anticipate that number to continue to rise.  We can use the community’s help to serve needy families.

Volunteer:  We encourage those who are healthy, not within the vulnerable age group, and without underlying health conditions, to serve at our San Jose location Tuesday-Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  For serving opportunities at our other Bay Area locations, please call the Church Office at 408-267-4691.

Donate:  For those interested in supporting the cause, they can donate by visiting our website at
