Invited to the White House
Anton Cao with his Evergreen Valley High School math teachers.

San Jose / CALIFORNIA

Anton Cao, an 11th grade student at Evergreen Valley High School, part of the East Side Union High School District, was invited to attend the 2016 White House Science Fair held April 13, in the White House East Room. Cao earned a perfect score on the AP Calculus AB Exam in Spring 2015 and was 1 of only 12 students in the world to earn every point possible on the exam. Looking across approximately 4.5 million AP Exams taken by 2.5 million U.S. public high school students in 2015, only 322 students earned every point possible on an AP exam, a rare accomplishment.

President Obama hosted the 6th and final White House Science Fair of his Administration, celebrating students in a board range of STEM fields. As an honored guest, Cao heard remarks from the President, and interacted with other students, professional scientists, high-level senior government officials, private sector representatives, and others.

The President also announced new commitments in support of the Administration’s “Computer Science for All” initiative announced earlier this year, as well as the “Educate to Innovate” campaign to ensure that all students are engaged and prepared in STEM subjects.
