San Jose / CALIFORNIA
Developer First Street Holdings, LLC has announced that construction has started on the $100-million, first phase of the relocation of Bay 101 Casino in North San Jose. The spectacular two-story, 68,000 sq. ft. venue for Bay 101 Casino will offer not only a wide variety of table games and daily tournaments, but also feature exciting new entertainment and fine-dining options. Guests will enjoy gaming action in an environment that will continue to be smoke-free, friendly and ultra-comfortable in contrast to the cold, surreal experience offered by many Las Vegas, Tahoe or Reno casinos. The new venue will be part of Bay 101 Technology Place — an innovative, mixed-use, high-rise development that will offer people a convenient, stimulating place to work, live and play at North First Street and Highway 101, less than 3/4 of a mile from San José International Airport.
“When Bay 101 was looking to relocate, we realized this was an opportunity to create something that didn’t exist in Silicon Valley — a seamlessly integrated development with office space, top-end business-class hotels, a range of dining options, and entertainment anchored by the casino,” said Tom Purtell, chief operating officer for project manager, Borelli Investment Company. “Most people have less time than ever today and to be able to stay, play and work in one location with so many options within mere steps is a compelling proposition.”
Bay 101 Technology Place Development Receives Planning Approval
In addition to getting construction underway on Bay 101 Casino, the tightly integrated Bay 101 Technology Place development received planning approval from the City of San Jose last week. When completed over several phases, in addition to the casino the project will include:
•9-story, 242,000 sq. ft. “Class A” office tower
•8-level garage with 1,325 parking spaces
•7-story Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel, with 174 rooms and a fine dining restaurant
•10-story, 240-room business-class hotel planned for a future phase
Across the street, Century Towers is a brand new luxury apartment community that offers 376 apartment homes for employees working in the office tower or for nearby technology companies such as Apple, Qualcomm, PayPal, eBay, Intel, Oracle, Cisco, and more. Local residents and those with business in the Bay 101 office tower will also be close to Hwys. 101 and 87 as well as I-880; public transit including VTA light rail and buses; and will be just blocks from Mineta San José International Airport.
The whole project will be tied together by tree-lined walkways connecting the office tower, parking structure, hotels, and casino — which are just steps apart.
Prestigious Headquarters Location
The distinctive design of the office tower is in keeping with the prestige of the project — and the status prospective businesses have earned in the marketplace. The 242,000 sq. ft. of column-free space is available to a single tenant looking for a signature location such as a corporate or regional headquarters, or can be leased to multiple tenants.
Extensive use of window glass and glass-fins, aluminum-wrapped exterior columns and aluminum accents will reflect beautiful valley vistas and provide a 21st century look-and-feel. A soaring entry arcade welcomes visitors, with four high-speed elevators to whisk people quickly to upper floors. Wooden decks and a stunning 7,700 sq. ft. rooftop terrace with glass railings offer expansive views of the valley plus added touches of luxury and elegance for entertaining clients.
“This office tower provides the opportunity for an industry leader or a handful of businesses to establish a major presence in San Jose in one of the best locations in the Valley,” Purtell remarked. “It offers true convenience and efficiency to ensure maximum productivity, combined with the high-class appearance.”
Casino to Open in 2017
The new Bay 101 Casino is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017. The Embassy Suites hotel is targeted for the fall of 2018, with the office tower and parking structure opening soon after that.
In addition to Borelli Investment Company as project manager, other key members of the team are:
