In Memory of Roy Jimenez

Roy Jimenez passed away in San Jose, California on February 27, 2016.  Roy was born on June 7, 1940 in Jerome, Arizona.  His family moved to Fresno, California in the early 1960’s where Roy attended Fresno State University.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and later attended Berkeley for a Master’s in Public Health (awarded in June, 1971).

In 1962 Roy and Marty were married and shortly thereafter began raising their children.  Roy dedicated his life to community health clinics and focused on building one of the largest and most comprehensive  health center networks in California.  Under his leadership and vision, his “health care delivery” model was ahead of its time.  He demonstrated “patient-centered” health care throughout his career and his invaluable contributions will live on in the community.

People who knew Roy were impacted by his visionary spirit, innovative leadership style, deep sincerity, and compassion for those most in need.

Roy’s beloved daughter, Michele, preceded him in death.  He is survived by his wife, Marty, and his other 2 children:  Laura Abrams (lives in Lodi) and Roy, Jr. from Sacramento and 8 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at: The Three Flames Restaurant located at: 1547 Meridian Avenue, San Jose, CA at: 11:00 a.m.  – 3:00 p.m.  Remembrances may be sent to the Jimenez family at:  532 Cozy Drive, San Jose, CA 95123.
