SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – The Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) is introducing four new mini bookmobiles to expand outreach into each of its communities. Named “Go Go Biblios,” three of these electric vehicles will be based at the Cupertino, Los Altos and Saratoga libraries, thanks to the generous funding provided by the Friends of the Cupertino Library, Los Altos Library Endowment and Friends of the Saratoga Libraries. The fourth vehicle will be shared between Campbell, Gilroy, Milpitas and Morgan Hill libraries. The Go Go Biblios have a mission to share the love of reading and learning with the public through their cargo of books and other media.

“Our Go Go Biblios will allow more opportunities to interact with the community,” stated Nancy Howe, County Librarian. “We want to bring the library directly to the public to introduce the many books, movies, music, programs, and online resources we have to offer all ages.”

The vehicles can hold up to 200 books/media and are fully electric. The panels lift up on both sides, revealing the materials available for check out. With a maximum speed of 25 mph and a limited service range, the Cupertino, Los Altos and Saratoga Go Go Biblios will be deployed within their local communities, while the fourth vehicle will visit the many other communities throughout the Library District.
