SAN JOSE, CA – While many children look forward to summer vacation for some, this might mean an unwanted vacation from regular meals. Fortunately, programs are in place to help ensure students participating in the School Nutrition programs receiving free or reduced lunches continue to be fed during the summer break.
Eligible families in Santa Clara County can receive free summer meals through the summer food service programs located throughout the community from the California Department of Education (CDE), USDA Summer Food, and the Hunger Hotline. Parents can search for a meal site in their area using the above mentioned webpages or they can call the National Hunger Hotline at: 1-866-3HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) or 1-877-8HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273).
